We have plenty of resources in this country both oil, coal, natural gas along with wind and water we shouldn't have to rely so much on foreign oil. I've been on a few alaska cruises and even flew up one year to go skiing. Alaska isn't the only place we have oil and i think the word reserves is always making people worried that we are going to run out of ways to power our cars and heat our homes.

One answer to your question is at the top of your previous blog.

Great story about the cards :)

Seems like our oceans can't take too much more plastic trash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxNqzAHGXvs

so moving towards biodegradable trash appears to be a necessity. Impregnating biodegradable trash with CO2 eating materials (flowers in this case), could solve two problems at once.

These plantable paper flowers are a great idea.  Last year my husband's 93 year old grandmother passed away, and we gave out at her funeral plantable flower prayer cards.  Let's face it, most people just throw away the prayer cards they receive at a funeral.  The guests at the funeral thought the flower prayer cards were a great idea, and now there are many flower memorials blooming this spring in memory of our grandmother.

Pretty funny, AZ.  Gore in the cabinet makes sense.  Maybe he can reduce the carbon foot print of the White House...like he finally did with his own mansion :)

     What's your take on Nader?

This gave me a good belly laugh.

    From today's Ecorazzi.  http://www.ecorazzi.com/2008/04/11/obama-now-guarantees-gore-an-offer-to-join-cabinet/

I sure do hope Al Gore takes a cabinet position.

I am no expert on this, I still like who I like, and plan on sticking with them.

But if you are interested in reading the thoughts of someone who does a lot of writing about this, then you may be interested in reading David Roberts blog Which Candidate is Greenest?  In this blog he wrote today he poses the question…Who cares more about climate in his or her gut? He says, “There’s a bit of tea-leaf reading in this, but if I had to guess I’d say Obama.”

TEQs were part of the program set out in a Zero Carbon Britain presentation I attended the other year http://www.zerocarbonbritain.com/  Seemed like a reasonable idea for providing everyone with the incentive to cut their carbon emissions.

    How Did Your Representative Vote?

To find out how your Representative voted on this bill, go to Sierra Club web site and enter your zip code.

My Representative, Harry E. Mitchell, made renewable energy history by voting for important energy tax incentives. Thanks Harry!

Please help keep Congress on track by sending a quick email to say thanks and to encourage your Congressman to keep voting for a clean energy future that creates hundreds of thousands of new jobs at home while also helping us fight global warming.

This is our chance to make real progress in putting America on the path to energy independence. Let's keep the momentum going!

I saw this PBS special.  A revealing piece of work.

PBS's series "Frontline" just aired this week a documentary called "Cheney's Law."

If more people watched programs like this the percentage of Americans who want Cheney impeached would be a lot higher.

You can watch the entire program or read about Cheney's Law  Here

Here is a valuable link which discusses climate data and various interpretations:  http://environment.newscientist.com/channel/earth/dn11462
The media has the ability to emphasize certain aspects of the data to present a point outside of the context of the data and other interpretations.  Since so much of the media is controlled by large corporate conglomerates, the presentation and emphasis of science will be skewed favoring these companies.
That's why I am happy to see movies like the 11th hour and an Inconvenient Truth present climate change in a popular and informative way.
I believe what's important is this.  Reducing CO2 output, certainly won't hurt anything and could be extremely beneificial to future generations.  For the US, this global climate change is becoming more of a priority and is no longer being seen as a back burner environmental issue.
I look forward to the presidential debates on this issue as the global climate change becomes more of a main stream issue.

The Observer newspaper has exposed the funding and the people behind the school governor who challenged the screening of Al Gore's climate change documentary in secondary schools here in the UK, showing he was funded by a Scottish quarrying magnate who established a controversial lobbying group to attack environmentalists' claims about global warming.

What a sad state of affairs this all is.  How long can these people get away with paying for and spreading false science?  Surely there is enough evidence before people's eyes now that people will see how misleading this all is.
Guess it comes down to working in your local community with people that can see the same problems you can if we are going to survive these changes and find ways to adapt.

You might want to visit my blog.  I have compiled many links supporting global warming as fact in addition to what we can do to reduce it's effects.  Google Big Sur Bohemian Club or see link in this blog.
