iChapters Plant a Tree Program
I'm proud to announce that college students, iChapters, Paso Pacifico, guerilla PR and myself, helped to generate funds to plant 46,000 trees over the past 3 weeks as part of the iChapters Plant a Tree Program where each ebook and echapter purchased through http://www.ichapters.com paid for a tree to be planted by Paso Pacifico in Nicaragua. This is a great example of how a corporation can consciously and directly support the environment and reforestation through sales of their products.

According to The Rainforest Action Network, “An area of rainforest the size of a football field is destroyed every second of every day. Over half of all the rainforests have already disappeared.”
In the spirit of partnership, Paso Pacifico was iChapters' non-profit tree planting partner and ChangingthePresent.org was in charge of the accounting and processing, and are not charging a handling fee.

It's not often that a company will plant a tree for each digital product that they sell. To help to change the world, these types of corporate acts should be recognized and heralded to set an example for other companies to hopefully follow.
To make things fun, we also ran a Facebook iChapters Tree Drawing Contest which concluded on the 15th and we are in the process of selecting the winners but please feel free to tree if you feel compelled: http://www.facebook.com/pages/iChapters/7061939610
Please help to spread the word about such a supportive program as an example of how to make the world a better place. Thanks.
