Journey to see 11th Hour

Finally I could take it no more and decided I had to see 11th Hour.  It won't be playing in the UK until February but it WAS playing in The Netherlands which is only a sea away.  It was a very interesting journey though by car, train, coach and ferry but worth every mile.  Was really impressed with the film.  Found the first part upsetting to watch even though have believed we are facing a serious crisis for many years now.  The ending was magic though.  Loved the way it seemed to build on hope and confidence and left you with the feeling that 'yes' we can tackle this problem and we can make a difference.  We will become better, more loving, more caring people in the process.  So agree that one has to find some environment to live in which you can love and which you can work to preserve and improve on a local level, with local people that you can relate to.  Have for so long believed that this IS possible and it was wonderful to see it all laid out in such a beautiful film.

Watching it in the Netherlands you could not help but feel the vulnerability of that country, most of which lies below sea leval on reclaimed land.  The people of the Netherlands have worked such miracles with their land though and have such knowledge about stopping the ingress of the sea their knowledge must surely be of great use in the future.  On arriving by ferry at Europort a few miles from Rotterdam one is struck by the wind turbines that are dotted everywhere amongst the port and along the road leading into the city.  They are surely on the right road to the future and solving problems of alternative energy generation.  The every road in the city seems to have its own bicyle paths attached which are well used.  Traffic seems much lighter and the trees along the central parkways in the wide boulevards give the feeling of space and a place for nature to thrive.
