Invite to PEace Day Broadcast Participiation

Dear Friends,

We are thrilled to invite your organization to participate in this year's Peace Day Global Broadcast - Building Peace Through Sustainability.  Held annually on September 21st, the United Nations International Day of Peace, the Peace Day Global Broadcast is a 24 Hour Internet, TV, and Radio event that showcases the efforts of organizations, like your own, working to preserve the planet and improve the living conditions of people worldwide through the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals.

The Peace Day Global Brodcast is organized by www.PeaceDay.TV; a collaboration between Culture of Peace Initiaitve, Unity Foundation, Peace Portal, and ShockRa Entertainment.

Established by U.N. resolution in 1982,  "Peace Day" has grown to include millions of people around the world who participate in all kinds of events, both large and small. Since its inception, the International Day of Peace has been a focal point for Peace-building organizations to educate and advocate on behalf of the solutions they offer to the world community.

In the past few years, it’s been a day of global ceasefire, having tremendous impact on the lives of millions of children who’ve been immunized, had food delivered, and received educational supplies. Increasingly, Peace Day is being adopted as a day to unite the world community in addressing the most urgent issues of our time: climate change, the environment, hunger & poverty, social justice, & human rights.

The Peace Day Broadcast is a means to further connect individuals with groups and educate people around the world.

Your participation will help us achieve these goals. There are several different levels at which you may choose to participate that include; providing content about your organization's work, allowing live feeds from the events you may be planning, promoting the event, sponsorship, or sharing the www.PeaceDay.TV community website.

150,000 (and counting) want to Change Chevron!

hanks to a big push from Avaaz yesterday, there are now over 150,000 people who have signed a petition telling Chevron’s new CEO John Watson to clean up the oil giant’s toxic legacy in Ecuador, and around the globe.

It is undeniable that the world wants to change Chevron. People from all over the globe are signing this petition, people young and old, from so many backgrounds. We’ve had celebrities, musicians, investors, and Chevron employees standing up and demanding change from one of the largest corporations on the planet.

As the new leader of the 3rd largest oil company in the world, CEO John Watson can right the wrongs of his predecessors and transform his company into one that cares.

150,000+ are saying “Enough is enough. Energy shouldn’t cost lives.”

From Ecuador to Richmond,CA to Burma and everywhere the oil giant operates in-between they leave a trail of environmental devastation, human rights abuses, and a legacy of health problems.

150,000+ say ENOUGH to Big Oil destroying our environment and the health of our communities.

Chevron, and their Big Oil cohorts, spend hundreds of millions of dollars on lobbyists and political contributions to buy off politicians and destroy policies that would be good for our climate and our future.

150,000+ people say ENOUGH to Chevron’s control of our government and our democracy.

To truly change Chevron and the oil industry, we are going to need to be 150,000 x stronger and louder and more powerful than we ever have been before. Our communities, our climate, our planet, and our future depend on it.

You in?

How to Beat the Flu Season

With flu season upon us, I know many moms are cringing at the prospect of sick kids. I know I am.

I heard some great information from a medical professional on how to survive the flu season and I wanted to pass it  along. So, want to stay as well as possible this flu season? Try vitamin C. The recommendation we got was to stick with the powder form of vitamin C (less sugar for you or your little one) which you can then add to water or juice. You can’t really taste it, so you don’t even know you are taking vitamins – perfect if you have a little one who hates vitamins or if you are one of those people who can’t stand the taste of vitamins.

It is really important to stick to the recommended dosages, so you should talk to your doctor before starting any new regiment like this. This is especially true if you are giving any vitamins to a child.  As always, this site is not dispensing medical advice, so please check with your doctor before making any changes.

The amazing thing about vitamin C is that our body uses it to fight off infection, so if you are sick or getting sick (or just plain trying not to get sick) then taking a little vitamin C helps give your body the fighting chance it deserves to kick out the bacteria or viruses that are attacking it.

Good luck!

Join the International Day of Peace

I am a member of the Global Coherence Initiative which is a science-based initiative to unite millions of people in heart-focused care and intention to shift global consciousness from instability and discord to balance, cooperation and enduring peace.

The Global Coherence Initiative is designed to help individuals and groups work together, synchronistically and strategically to increase the impact of their efforts to create positive global change.

Together we will:

1) Increase personal coherence for the benefit of ourselves and the planet
2) Help shift the planetary consciousness baseline from self-centeredness to wholeness care
3) Increase connection and social harmony
4) Empower our ability to navigate through global changes with less stress and more ease
5) Empower environmental responsibility and stewardship of the planet

This project has been initiated because millions of people sense that this is an extraordinary time; that a paradigm shift of human consciousness is now under way; that we are at the crossroads of change and must move toward the healing of ourselves and our planet. Many people are feeling a strong desire to help change our present and future conditions and are looking for ways to use their heart, spirit-aligned wisdom and care to make a meaningful difference.

The Global Coherence Initiative is one of many care and compassion initiatives taking place on the planet. Each year, an increasing number of groups and online communities are radiating compassion and care to the planet in these times of need. We and others feel that these collective heart-based initiatives, rather than being a trend, represent the proactive consciousness platform of the future, in which individuals and communities take responsibility for shaping a new world by increasing love, care and compassion for the global whole.

I recently volunteered to participate in a 6-month GCI Interconnectedness Study on the relationship between human consciousness, Earth’s energetic activity and other planetary factors. (I have a lot of free time on my hands these days, lol) Anyway, I do receive e-mail alerts and I thought I would pass this one on to the members of this community. This alert is about the upcoming International Day of Peace.

Envisioning the Peaceful World You Want to Live In
"For the International Day of Peace, September 21, align with the spirit of all who are sending prayers, meditations and positive intentions for world peace."

Creation starts with thought, desire and imagination….the same as desiring a new house, job, etc. Thoughts, desires and imagination create an energetic blueprint for what we want; then taking action steps towards our goal helps to create the building blocks for intentions to manifest.

In honor of International Peace Day, let’s take five minutes a day (or what’s convenient for you) to envision the world as we would want it to be: A world that respects individual human rights and authentic communication, has balanced, conscious leadership and compassionate governing systems worldwide, values the preservation of resources, has love and respect for animals and environmental balance. A world that provides food, pure water, shelter and world peace for all. Create your own additions and remember to enrich your vision with genuine feelings from your heart’s desire so as to give it life. Close with a moment of gratitude and the request that whatever manifests only be the highest best for the whole."

UPDATE:  HeartMath in honor of International Peace Day, Sept. 21st, created a beautiful video called At the Heart of Peace. You can watch it HERE.

POVERTY - Addressing the Causes

Poverty is an effect, to solve a problem one must address the "cause."

To truly address poverty we need to recognize that it is the result of all the other inter-dependent sectors of life, from education to health care, access to technology and natural resources, most importantly what Human Rights you have.

There are many kinds of poverty, the causes of which vary depending on where you're looking, a rich country or a poor county.

As we enter the Information Age, humanity has real potential to address the "causes of poverty" in both rich and poor countries alike. The technological fixes available are the easy part, the hard part is having a cooperative spirit with greater respect for the Human Rights of a diverse humanity, if we can achieve that we will succeed in all that follows.
In poorer countries practical coordinated action needs to be taken to;
  • Improve supplies of clean water, to reduce time spent gathering often foul water and reduce illness caused by foul water supplies.
  • Improve the supply of accessible, affordable health care information and services, to reduce the vulnerability to disease of children and the elderly especially.
  • Improve training and equipment of farmers in poor countries related to agriculture and natural resource management, include help with seeds and expertise from groups like ECHO.
  • Increase access to education in combination with Information Age technology such as computers, ICT Systems, and cell phones via communty Access Points.
  • Relieve countries of the "Interest" charged on their debt, and reduce debt.
  • Help governments to outside help sustainable development help for non-governmental organizations, non-profits, and health missionaries.

In richer countries coordinated action should be taken to;

  • Improve the quality of educational opportunities and incentives with emphasis on the poor.
  • Increase diplomacy, international cooperation, and sustainable trade options to decrease necessity of future growing military expenditure. Make friends of foes, now the world is so interdependent we must cooperate; as individuals we do it all the time, now our governments acting as our collective voice needs to pursue options that lead to greater Peace.
  • Improve work training and apprenticeship incentives for the poor to focus on new Information Age opportunities. Using the Internet an individual can now get a job with someone else or work for themselves by offering their knowledge, art, music, and time. The industrial age is coming to a close, we need to educate for the new world because the factory jobs in places like Detroit are not coming back; we need to train for the present and future.
  • Increase the use of local exchange systems in communities to increase recycling, keep more wealth in the local economy for it's development, and stregthen community ties between the living people creating or growing available goods.

Mix Max in Cameroun

Hey everybody! Well, my friend, a man from Cameroun, is a member of a foundation in that country. In june 2009, he's gonna go back there to celebrate the foundation's 10th anniversary. He told me how he was trying to find ideas to help his people get a better condition. He told me that in some hospitals there, patients have to sleep 2 per bed because there is not enough for everyone. I find it disturbing to think that the sick may sleep with the injured, I'm sure you see my point, so I thought it would be wonderful to find a solution here. I was thinking of the canadian army's beds, which they souldn't use forever. I might proceed to get information on this case, but I wanted to know if any of you have an idea for that? You see, sending old beds (not matresses, I guess, coz its unhygienical) to another country could cost some money ;) so if you know of any organization that could help us get the money for one shipment I would appreciate you tell me please...

Children and The Environment

The American Cancer Society Estimates over 75% of cancers are environmental related.  Children under five years old do not de-toxify environmental toxins as adults.
