Natural Economy/Value of Nature
I am Richard ROBINSON an
independent eco activist from Erode district a small town in the state of Tamil
Nadu INDIA, since my infancy I found myself attached deeply towards nature and
species this further led me to learn while I walked, without knowing those
scientific facts and terminologies, I started from mimicking to the black
bird’s ringing, which I lately studied as Asian Koel (Eudynamys Scolopacea) and
the imitation I did was bird Ringing and birding, And along with my friends we
started to plant trees, further after years in 2004 and likeminded naturalists
we formed a non profit organization named JEEVAKARUNYA TRUST, with a motto to
Train and implement youth In Sustainable Development work promoting
environmental, ecological and humanitarian values and importance,
And now, still learning educating and training
the younger generation’s to involve individually and collectively in all
eco-development activities and decision makings I have individually
conducted hundreds of seminars and converted them to eco-actions,
24 hour x 7 days Snake Rescues along with a
trained team,
Free seminars, slid shows and movie for the all
local and surrounded educational institutions,
Conservation based weed removal action for Tribal
livelihood development trainings
Clean renewable energy solar lamp implementation
to rural and tribal those not accessed with power,
And many innovative initiatives like craft from
the plant lantana camera which is considered as a weed destroying native forest
and farm lands, GREEN CROSS eco action clubs, and more to bring a change in the
un-mind full living of the most populace even though we find very
tuff and hard to move every step without any support, I believe that we can
make it, I also swear that what ever happens I am not going to quit my duty
towards nature, of conserving the only home at least in this 11 hour...

A ultima Hora

I just watched the film on channel 4 (uk ) and I was really pleased to see people trying hard to unite people in making a difference to our planet which we are killing more and more everyday . Its good to see people heightening the public's awareness of the seriousness of global warming and the use of fossil fuels .
Anything that gives off black smoke can't be a good thing . I would like to see solar energy , hydro energy , and wind turbines used a lot more in the very near / almost immediate future .
I would also like to see a lot of the worlds animals rescued . One guy on the programme mentioned that a lot of the keys to our survival are within the animals on our planet which are endangered . I'm a strong believer in this . I believe that a lot of cures for diseases and viruses are within the animals on our planet and if those animals are dying then so are natural cures . This also applies to forests and green land . A lot of cures for fatal diseases and viruses come from natural plants and if man is killing those plants and forestry then he is also killing his natural resources for survival .
I was really please to watch channel 4 tonight . John ( eternaltrooper ) http://www.eternaltrooper.net/

DC LEGISLATIVE BILL DETAILS:
Anacostia River Cleanup and Protection Act of 2009
Talking Points
The legislation puts a new focus on reducing the amount of trash that enters the Anacostia River and creates a new fund dedicated to the cleanup and restoration of the Anacostia River. The legislation represents a unique attempt – as best we can tell, the first of its kind in the nation – to work with business and environmental leaders to develop a shared strategy to reduce the amount of trash in the Anacostia River. In addition, this initiative creates a partnership with Maryland to create a shared stewardship for the health of the entire Anacostia watershed.
Regarding Trash in the Anacostia River
- 20,000 tons of trash enters the Anacostia River each year.
- According to a recent report by the DC Dept. of the Environment, plastic bags, bottles, cans, snack wrappers and Styrofoam make up 85% of the trash in the Anacostia River.
- In the river’s tributaries, such as Watts Branch, nearly 50% of the trash is plastic bags.
- According to the report, placing a small fee on “free” bags could eliminate up to 47% of the trash in the tributaries and 21% from the river’s main stem.
- DC WASA removes 477 tons of trash from the Anacostia River each year; Anacostia Watershed Society volunteers have pulled another 536 tons of trash out of the River.
The Cost of Taking No Action
- EPA is establishing a new Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) of allowable trash in the Anacostia River and violations are likely to occur with each rainfall event, potentially costing the District millions of dollars annually.
- Each “free” bag that becomes litter already costs District residents:
- District agencies already spend millions on trash rather than people.
- DC WASA spends millions on Anacostia River trash removal, passed on to District rate payers in their monthly water bill.
- Continued pollution of the Anacostia River is dangerous and creates a potential risk to wildlife and marine life.
How the Initiative Works
- The legislation will place a small 5-cent fee on all single-use plastic and paper carryout bags from Retail Food Establishment license holders (which includes grocery stores, food vendors, convenience stores, drug stores, and others) and Class A and B liquor stores.
- The legislation requires that these plastic and paper carryout bags be recyclable.
Community Education and Outreach
- The legislation delays implementation for 6 months to a year, requiring the city to conduct an intensive public information campaign and outreach that includes providing reusable carryout bags to residents for free or low-cost, and work with service providers to distribute multiple reusable bags to seniors and low-income households.
How the Fee Would be Used
- The 5-cent fee will be divided between the business and a newly created Anacostia River Cleanup and Protection Fund.
- Businesses will retain either 1 or 2 cents of the fee, depending whether they offer customers a carryout bag credit program for reusable bags.
- The remaining amount of the fee will be deposited into the Fund to target environmental cleanup, reclamation, and restoration efforts on the Anacostia River, as well as continue a public education campaign and provide free reusable bags to DC residents, in particular the elderly and low income residents.
Where Has This Been Tried Before
- Other cities are moving in this direction. New York, Seattle, and many European nations have already required, or plan to require, a small charge for plastic and paper bags. These initiatives have dramatically cut down on these single-use bags – by as much as 90% in some places.
- In addition, many businesses are already taking similar steps on their own in addition to selling low-cost durable, reusable bags. Discount food stores like ALDI and Save-A-Lot, and even IKEA, charge customers a nominal fee for every bag – greatly reducing the number of plastic and paper bags used and encouraging customers to bring reusable bags.
A website, www.TrashFreeAnacostia.com, has been set up to support the Anacostia River Cleanup and Protection Initiative and to be a resource for information about the effort to reduce the amount of bags that enter the River.

National Grandparents Day is a United States secular holiday celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day. For 2008, Grandparents Day falls on September 7th.
Even though it is a national day of observance, Grandparents Day is not very well known or celebrated here in the U.S. If any of your families are like my family, we honored our grandparents along with our parents on Mother and Father’s Day. So most grandparents are not usually expecting anything, nor do they usually want something on this day either. This makes it the perfect day to think outside the box…the gift box that is, by planting and dedicating a tree for them.
Making a tree dedication to celebrate your grandparents or to honor their memory is a great gift for those of you that care for the environment and want to celebrate your grandparents and Mother Earth together.
The gift of a tree represents a lasting tribute as it grows and flourishes through the years to come. The donation of a tree is a valuable contribution to any community. Trees produce oxygen, reduce carbon monoxide, add beauty, shade, and provide wildlife habitation.
The grandparent who was in my life the longest was my husband’s grandmother. She never wanted us to buy her gifts, sweets or flowers. Whatever the occasion, she always loved getting just two things from us, 1) Cash, and 2) a Ride to the Casino.
She wasn’t so much a tree hugging granny, as she was a gambling granny.
We are dedicating a tree in memory of our gambling granny. She would be happy with our choice of gift, because I’m sure wherever she is there is a casino, and she is having a great time playing the slot machines.
Here are a few organizations where you can purchase a tree.

The first Flash Search Engine is an Environmental Search Engine!! http://www.greenplanetsearch.com is now live! When Mike Haney first presented the idea behind the technology behind www.greenplanetsearch.com, he was laughed down. Virtually, of course. “Everyone can dream,: scoffed one, erroneously. A few people were intrigued. The combination of Haney’s vision of a Flash-driven search engine, and the plan to create a dazzling environmental education resource, eventually attracted a loose-knit corps of collaborators, most of whom have never met in person first among them Andre Roussille, a French computer programmer, and now part owner of the company. The upshot from this collaboration, apart from the stunningly beautiful homepage, is the only people involved in the creation of the search engine, is that the only people involved in the development devoted environmentalists, who genuinely wish to disseminate good information to students and educators. Later, through a similar serendipity, Mr. Haney teamed up with a veteran journalist who agreed to lend his services to the site, building from scratch a source of environmental news and policy analysis. Advertisers will be strictly vetted by the companies shareholders, limited to companies that are making a meaningful contribution the planet’s health. The final result, which was launched this week, is the culminating of thousands of hours of work, and more than a few false starts. It boasts easily navigable information, experiments, lesson plans, presented in an interactive and graphically enhanced format, and has an exclusive global climate change resource section for teachers and kids. If you would like more information about greenplanetsearch.com, or to schedule an interview with Mike Haney, please call Mike Haney at 305.531.3746 or e-mail info@greenplanetsearch.com. This is a non-fiction book of 100,000 words & 33 chapters, all of which are acronyms of ECO. It's available in a pdf file on the internet under the title ECO - Everyone's Common Origin and/or EARTHBOND. No charge for reading/accessing it. I am a published writer and long-term teacher of Creative Writing to adults, but have not yet found a publisher for this book. I'd like to thank the 11th hour team - especially Blake - for giving me this opportunity to make this book, as an ebook, known to a wider audience. I thought the film fantastic - so many points of contact between my own ideas and those expressed in the 11th hour film. Yet I've never met or spoken to any of them. Issues I address particularly in my book are the 'soul' ones (as with Bill Plotkin's Soulcraft) but also, being as I trained as an economist, quite a practical take too. The profile of my book starts with becoming an ECOPHILOSOPHER, draws on Disconnection from Nature, Economy/Corporations, Generation that gets to remake the world, healing yourself, human development and evolution, human faith and beliefs, human thinking and concepts. If anyone would like to contact me direct about the book, please title your email ECO. Gaia Dance is a pseudonym. My name is Ann Palmer and the email is plyons.gress@tiscali.co.uk. I'd like to wish the llth hour team all the luck in the world - as I'm sure the Earth itself does. The 11th hour team have done exactly what I wish I could have done and in just the right way. Wonderful. All power to them and their future efforts. Bookmark/Search this post with:
