Dear Friends,

We are thrilled to invite your organization to participate in this year's Peace Day Global Broadcast - Building Peace Through Sustainability. Held annually on September 21st, the United Nations International Day of Peace, the Peace Day Global Broadcast is a 24 Hour Internet, TV, and Radio event that showcases the efforts of organizations, like your own, working to preserve the planet and improve the living conditions of people worldwide through the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals.

The Peace Day Global Brodcast is organized by www.PeaceDay.TV; a collaboration between Culture of Peace Initiaitve, Unity Foundation, Peace Portal, and ShockRa Entertainment.

Established by U.N. resolution in 1982, "Peace Day" has grown to include millions of people around the world who participate in all kinds of events, both large and small. Since its inception, the International Day of Peace has been a focal point for Peace-building organizations to educate and advocate on behalf of the solutions they offer to the world community.

In the past few years, it’s been a day of global ceasefire, having tremendous impact on the lives of millions of children who’ve been immunized, had food delivered, and received educational supplies. Increasingly, Peace Day is being adopted as a day to unite the world community in addressing the most urgent issues of our time: climate change, the environment, hunger & poverty, social justice, & human rights.

The Peace Day Broadcast is a means to further connect individuals with groups and educate people around the world.

Your participation will help us achieve these goals. There are several different levels at which you may choose to participate that include; providing content about your organization's work, allowing live feeds from the events you may be planning, promoting the event, sponsorship, or sharing the www.PeaceDay.TV community website.

I am Richard ROBINSON an independent eco activist from Erode district a small town in the state of Tamil Nadu INDIA, since my infancy I found myself attached deeply towards nature and species this further led me to learn while I walked, without knowing those scientific facts and terminologies, I started from mimicking to the black bird’s ringing, which I lately studied as Asian Koel (Eudynamys Scolopacea) and the imitation I did was bird Ringing and birding, And along with my friends we started to plant trees, further after years in 2004 and likeminded naturalists we formed a non profit organization named JEEVAKARUNYA TRUST, with a motto to Train and implement youth In Sustainable Development work promoting environmental, ecological and humanitarian values and importance,

And now, still learning educating and training the younger generation’s to involve individually and collectively in all eco-development activities and decision makings I have individually conducted hundreds of seminars and converted them to eco-actions,

24 hour x 7 days Snake Rescues along with a trained team,

Free seminars, slid shows and movie for the all local and surrounded educational institutions,

Conservation based weed removal action for Tribal livelihood development trainings

Clean renewable energy solar lamp implementation to rural and tribal those not accessed with power,

And many innovative initiatives like craft from the plant lantana camera which is considered as a weed destroying native forest and farm lands, GREEN CROSS eco action clubs, and more to bring a change in the un-mind full living of the most populace even though we find very tuff and hard to move every step without any support, I believe that we can make it, I also swear that what ever happens I am not going to quit my duty towards nature, of conserving the only home at least in this 11 hour...

This is GREAT and gave me a good belly laugh.

The spirit of Christmas is all about LOVE, and not how much lighting one has in front of their home. I find it refreshing when people don't try to keep up with the neighbors. You can have a Less is More attitude about Christmas lighting and still be in the spirit of Christmas.

The Ditto house owners are very clever, creative and obviously have a great sense of humor.

The Ki CleanTech Road Rally

The Ki is hosting a CleanTech Road Rally along with our premium sustainable lifestyle event. The road rally will have checkpoints at Bio-dynamic and organic wineries in addition to the Gaia Hotel and Spa in Napa Valley, eventually ending at The Ki flagship event. The goal is to raise awareness about the need for clean, efficient vehicles and demonstrate technologies that exist today. We are accepting entries including electric cars, clean diesel vehicles, hybrids or alternative solutions. Would love to talk to some people about our event and interested participants. Help NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS Magazine set a Guinness World Record™ by donating your old jeans and other denim to help create the world's largest collection of clothes to recycle.

What Will Be Done With All This Denim?
All the denim will be donated to Cotton From Blue to Green.®. This denim drive recycles jeans into UltraTouch™ Natural Cotton Fiber Insulation, which is used to help build houses in places that have been damaged by hurricanes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters. Your jeans will help set a record, keep clothes out of landfills, and build houses for families to live in!

It’s a Fact
It takes about 500 pairs of jeans to recycle enough denim to insulate one average-size U.S. house.

Here’s How You Can Get Involved!
1. Get a parent’s permission and select as many denim jeans as you like. (Any denim clothing is OK.)
2. The denim must be used.
3. The denim can be any brand.
4. The denim can be any color or size but must have been worn by a human (no doll clothes!).
5. Please print out this form and include it with each package!

GaiaTech Ecovillage Intro, an Open Source Solution

We have a plan, it is called GaiaTech, ( available by link as downloaded-able Word file) You can use it yourself as a template to edit from if you like, or just get educated; feel free to share it GaiaTech is offered as an Open Source Solution by Peace Portal.

The principle objective of the GaiaTech EcoVillage (“GTV”) is to demonstrate practices that ensure a high quality of life for village participants while ensuring locally sustainable development, conservation of the bio-diversity of natural resources, and self-sustainability through social, economic, geologic, and climatic changes.

A further objective of GTV is the substantive exchange, give-away, and transfer of empirically tested practices or technologies which produce skills that ensure the development and sustainability of its social, economic and environmental attributes.

The development of these sustainable technologies is envisioned to provide for their expansion to a greater part of the Planet. Various village humanitarian and commercial organizations will accomplish this objective through interdependent development, education, local induction of self-sustainable and ecologically sensitive technologies, practices, and products for application in rural and urban settings of need worldwide.

Definitions
Since each individual has their unique idea about what is meant by "EcoVillage”, "Sustainable", and

“Quality of Life”, these concepts are specifically defined and provide a criterion to which all practices should adhere.

EcoVillage:
¨ Demonstrate lifestyles which are "successfully sustained into the indefinite future"
¨ Ensure stability through periods of economic, geologic, societal, or climatic changes
¨ Weave together into one fabric, all aspects of village living, including; housing, energy, health assurance, education, commerce, agriculture, cottage industry, recreation, and culture
¨ Promote the ability of the individual to experience a quality life of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual fulfillment
¨ Meet every aspect of the definition of "Sustainability"

Sustainability:

Meeting "the needs of present life-forms in a healthy manner without compromising the ability of future generations of all life forms to meet their own needs." Specifically, activities are defined by GTV as sustainable when they meet the following criteria:
¨ Use materials in continuous cycles
¨ Use renewable and reliable sources of energy

¨ Are primarily founded upon the qualities of being human (i.e. creativity, communication, coordination, appreciation, and spiritual and intellectual development.)
