Getting to the C.O.R.E of things

Status:
In Progress
Description:

The C.O.R.E Malacca* or the Center Of Renewable Energy Malacca, was an idea born of several individual companies that decided that they shouldn't/ couldn't/ wouldn't wait for the powers that be to get going and so decided to get together to do something about the global changes we all face.  Gathered under one roof, each brings a little something to the table in way of better use, fuse, reuse, produce, abuse(?) of energy.  Make no mistake, each one an Eco-mercenary (much like me!).  Birds of a feather & all that...

On a pragmatic note, why shouldn't individuals profit from doing the right thing?

(*The state of Malacca in Malaysia is regarded as the cradle of civilization for the country.  This is where trade with China, India & Europe began)

Entrance to the C.O.R.E  the quiet after the crowd..

The Malaysian Flag raised & National Anthem sung to commemorate the occasion

Ceremonial Lion Dance to open the Center

Being mostly made up of Chinese businesses, the auspicious date of 08/08/08 which coincided with the Beijing Olympics was chosen.  Phonetically the numbers sound like "prosper! prosper! prosper!" in Chinese (We Chinese are funny like that)  But hey! If it works...

Beijing had their fireworks...  we had ours...

There is nothing really special in what is being done here.  What we have managed to accomplish is simply come together with a common a goal...

TO EARN A LIVING & MAKE SOME MONEY!!!

Perhaps thats the point.  Perhaps its that simple.  If we all decided to tweek our businesses to a little greener & a little cleaner each day, I think the world would be quite a different place to live in... And what a world it would be...  Stay tuned more to come..!

Have a great day!

Keeping me head above water

ITs been moire than an a year since my last entry (sounds like a Catholic confessional)

A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then. Here in Malaysia enviromental concerns are championed by the brave few... Most of whom aren't even from Malaysia.

Mainly from Europe, they have seen 1st hand the effects of climate change. More importantly they realise it IS a global issue & no one is exempt.

They fully subscribe to this eco-mercenary mentally of "getting paid to do the right thing" Alas, I cannot match the greed & short-sightedness of the average Malaysian businessman who wants returns in 3 years coupled with an attitude of "Don't worry about it, we wouldn't be around when it the @#$%^ happens.

So while parts of Europe try to above water, I'm trying to maintain my business in the same manner...

Strangely both victims of the same prevailing attitude.

Till the next encounter...blub... blub... blub...
